1939 Survey
Shortly after the outbreak of WW2, the country took a countrywide survey prior to issuing identity cards and ration books. This survey is the best record we have of the population of Blackham at this period Below is a transcription of the survey which appears on Ancestry. There are gaps in the schedule which are where Withyham entries come and a number of closed records of people who are still living. For some reason, towards the end of the Blackham section, some individuals are repeated
