Geoffrey Tester – Anita Guillermina Hammond

The Rev A Miles (Rector of Withyham) officiated at the wedding at All Saints’, Blackham, on Saturday of Miss
Anita Guillermina Hammond, daughter of Mr and Mrs S H Hammond, Blackham Villa, Blackham, and Mr
Geoffrey Tester, now serving with the forces, son of Mr and Mrs H Tester, the Laurels, Upper Hartfield.
Given away by her brother, Mr Edward Hammond, the bride wore a gown of white brocaded satin with an
embroidered veil held in place by a tiara of orange blossom. Her ornament was a gold chain and cross given her by
the bridegroom and she carried a shower bouquet of scarlet carnations and fern.
Attending her were two maids of honour, Mrs Moseley and Mrs Edward Hammond, and also Miss Elena Jean
Ashby. All three attendants wore dresses of apple green net over taffeta, with silver head dresses. Their bouquets
were of deep yellow jonquils.
The bridegroom presented the maids of honour with god brooches and the bridesmaid received a gold necklace.
Mr Reginald Tester was best man.
